After a string of seven wins, Excel's good fortune finally ran out on Tuesday. They fell just short of the New Brockton Gamecocks by a score of 5-4.

Trent Williams put in work while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. He also tossed no earned runs, which is notable because Excel is 2-1 when he allows at most one earned run, but 8-11 otherwise. Williams was also big at the plate, scoring two runs and stealing three bases while going 1-for-3. He has been hot, having posted two or more stolen bases the last five times he's played.

Williams wasn't the only one making solid contact as four players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was JP Norris, who got on base in all four of his plate appearances with one double.

Excel's defeat dropped their record down to 10-12. As for New Brockton, their win ended a three-game drought on the road and puts them at 8-7.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Excel will head out to face off against Sweet Water at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. As for New Brockton, they will face off against Houston Academy at 5:00 p.m. on Monday.
