On Thursday, McQueen was able to grind out a solid victory over Washington Union, taking the game 60-53. Given McQueen's advantage in MaxPreps's basketball rankings in their respective home states (they are ranked 15th in Nevada, while Washington Union is ranked 841st in California), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Leading McQueen to victory were Alex Hancock and Kade Snyder. Hancock dropped a double-double on 14 points and 10 rebounds, while Snyder dropped a double-double on 18 points and 10 rebounds. That makes it two consecutive games in which Snyder has scored at least 25% of McQueen's points. Logan Brown was another key contributor, scoring 5 points.
The win makes it two in a row for McQueen and bumps their season record up to 2-0. As for Washington Union, their loss dropped their record down to 1-1.
McQueen is on the road again on Friday and play against Aspire Langston Hughes Academy at 3:30 p.m. on December 1st. As for Washington Union, they will face off against Natomas at 1:30 p.m. on Saturday. Natomas has been dominant on offense recently, as they've racked up an incredible 246 points over their last four matches.
