The Wayne Academy Jaguars lost against the Lamar Raiders back in December of 2016, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Tuesday. Wayne Academy took a 51-42 hit to the loss column at the hands of Lamar. The loss was a bit of a surprise, as Wayne Academy came into the contest with a sizable advantage in MaxPreps' Mississippi basketball rankings (they are ranked 107th, while Lamar is ranked 217th).
Among those leading the charge was Jonathan Hart, who dropped a double-double on 19 points and 11 rebounds. That makes it two consecutive games in which he has scored at least 25% of Lamar's points. Another player making a difference was Zion Huggins, who scored 12 points along with 6 rebounds.
Wayne Academy's loss dropped their record down to 3-3. As for Lamar, the victory (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 4-8.
Wayne Academy will look to defend their home court on Friday against Simpson Academy at 7:00 p.m. As for Lamar, they will head out on the road to face off against Leake Academy at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Leake Academy is coming into the contest on a three-game losing streak.
