Basketball Game Preview: Rossview Hawks vs. Kirkwood Cobras

Rossview is on a three-game streak of home wins, while Kirkwood is on a three-game streak of away wins: one of those streaks is about to end. The Rossview Hawks will host the Kirkwood Cobras at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Rossview is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 53.9 points per game this season.

Last Tuesday, Rossview came up short against Creek Wood and fell 50-42.

Despite their loss, Rossview saw several players rise to the challenge and make noteworthy plays. Logan Piekielko, who dropped a double-double on ten points and 13 rebounds, was perhaps the best of all. The dominant performance also gave Piekielko a new career-high in steals (three). Another player making a difference was Roland Morton, who posted eight points and three steals.

Even though they lost, Rossview smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 25 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least nine offensive boards in five consecutive matches.

Meanwhile, Kirkwood was fully in charge on Tuesday, breezing past Northeast 65-19. The Cobras have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won eight contests by 23 points or more this season.

Kirkwood is also on a roll lately: they've won seven of their last eight games, which provided a nice bump to their 13-3 record this season. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 65.9 points per game. As for Rossview, they have traveled a rocky road recently having lost nine of their last 12 matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 5-13 record this season.

Rossview took their win against Kirkwood in their previous matchup back in February of 2024 by a conclusive 89-69. Will Rossview repeat their success, or does Kirkwood have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
