They walked away with a 49-36 win over Rushville. Given New Castle's advantage in MaxPreps' Indiana basketball rankings (they are ranked 161st, while Rushville is ranked 383rd), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
New Castle's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Colin Taylor, who scored 15 points along with two steals. Another player making a difference was Isaac Madden, who scored seven points along with 11 rebounds and two steals.
When it comes to explaining why Rushville lost, one person who can't be blamed is Keegan Bowles. Despite the final result, he scored 13 points along with seven rebounds. Quentin Cain was another key contributor, scoring seven points along with two steals.
New Castle's win ended a three-game drought on the road and puts them at 6-8. As for Rushville, their defeat dropped their record down to 2-12.
New Castle and Yorktown will face off at 7:30 p.m. on January 19th without much rest after finishing up games yesterday. Hopefully Yorktown focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up nine on Saturday.
