The Dwyer Panthers came tearing into Friday's contest with three straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 40.3 points) and they left with even more momentum. They strolled past Palm Beach Gardens with points to spare, taking the game 68-50. Given Dwyer's advantage in MaxPreps' Florida basketball rankings (they are ranked 27th, while Palm Beach Gardens is ranked 251st), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Dwyer to victory, but perhaps none more so than Jaelen Nelson, who scored 11 points along with eight rebounds and five assists. The team also got some help courtesy of Amari Nealy, who dropped a double-double on 13 points and 12 rebounds.
Dwyer's victory was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 18-3. Those victories were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 69.3 points per game. As for Palm Beach Gardens, their loss dropped their record down to 12-9.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Dwyer will play host again and welcome Lake Worth, where tip off is scheduled for 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Palm Beach Gardens, Palm Beach Gardens and Pahokee will face off at 7:30 p.m. on January 29th without much rest after finishing up games yesterday. Pahokee is coming into the game on a six-game losing streak.
