The Southridge Spartans put another one in the bag on Friday to keep their perfect season alive. They snuck past Miami with a 49-45 win. Given Southridge's advantage in MaxPreps' Florida basketball rankings (they are ranked eighth, while Miami is ranked 64th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Southridge to victory, but perhaps none more so than Shanaii Gamble, who scored 17 points along with 9 rebounds and 5 steals. That makes it two consecutive games in which Gamble has scored at least 25% of Southridge's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Dianka Hardisson, who scored 16 points along with 6 rebounds and 4 steals.
Southridge pushed their record up to 7-0 with that victory, which was their fifth straight at home. Those victories were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 60.2 points per game. As for Miami, their loss dropped their record down to 3-3.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Southridge has the luxury of staying home another game and will welcome Palmetto at 5:00 p.m. on December 11th. Hopefully Palmetto focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 25 on Wednesday. As for Miami, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Coral Reef at 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
