1A Region 2 recap November 5, 2013
Shaw extended the longest winning streak in 1A Region 2 this week by beating St. Joseph, 20-13. The victory was the fourth in a row for the team.
Kennedy took down Durant 44-6 last week, the largest margin of any game. Ladaris Johnson threw for 184 yards and 5 touchdowns and ran for 35 yards in the win.
Jarmarcus Marshall was a key player and the best on defense this week as Brooks bested McAdams. He recorded 1 fumble.
He was 10-12 with 1 interception.
Johnson put up the best numbers through the air as the Hornets beat the Tigers. Johnson's favorite target this week was Xavier Roberts, who caught 4 passes for 69 yards.
The Fighting Irish's Devonte Mcpherson and Demanuel Bailey led the league in both passing and receiving yards. 6-1 quarterback Mcpherson has thrown for 2,218 yards this season, while Bailey has 39 catches for 831 yards. Kennedy's Carnez Gant leads the league in rushing yards with 982.
The top two teams in the league will face off this week when first place Kennedy takes on second place Broad Street.
Sheldon Hodge's team's Gant needs only 18 yards against Broad Street next week to surpass 1,000 rushing yards for the season. In 70 carries Gant has accumulated 982 yard this year.
Fans will be treated to a premier battle in the secondary when St. Joseph's Bailey goes up against St. Aloysius's Connor Smith.
Next week's game between john baker's team and the Flashes will feature an aerial matchup as Mcpherson tests his arm against Smith's defensive ability.
Shaw made the biggest leap in the national rankings this week, rising to 9,184 from 9,462. They were able to move up in the ranks after a 20-13 victory over the Fighting Irish last week.
