Lassiter is 0-5 against Cambridge since December of 2014 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Tuesday. The Lassiter Trojans will be playing at home against the Cambridge Bears at 6:00 p.m. Cambridge took a loss in their last match and will be looking to turn the tables on Lassiter, who comes in off a win.
Last Friday, Lassiter beat Pope 47-39. The win was all the more spectacular given Lassiter's disadvantage in MaxPreps' Georgia basketball rankings (they are ranked 212th, while Pope is ranked 97th).
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Lassiter to victory, but perhaps none more so than Sophie Hortman, who scored 10 points along with 5 rebounds and 4 steals. Another player making a difference was Malia Loadwick, who scored 11 points along with 5 steals.
Meanwhile, it was a hard-fought contest, but Cambridge had to settle for a 34-31 loss against Kell on Friday. The defeat unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Cambridge in their matchups with Kell: they've now lost eight in a row.
Lassiter is on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 6-3 record this season. As for Cambridge, they now have a losing record at 3-4.
Lassiter was dealt a bruising 56-25 defeat at the hands of Cambridge in their previous meeting back in December of 2020. Can Lassiter avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
