Canterbury extended their winning streak to 13 on Thursday, bumping them up to 13-0. They blew past the Lakeside Christian Lions 13-1. Considering the Crusaders have won eight games by more than five runs this season, Thursday's blowout was nothing new.
Trevor Lujan made a splash no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, striking out seven batters over four innings while giving up just one earned run off two hits. He has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than two hits in three consecutive appearances. He was also stellar in the batter's box, going 3-for-4 with three RBI, two runs, and one stolen base. Those three RBI gave him a new career-high.
In other batting news, Canterbury got a massive performance out of Cruz Guzman, who got on base in three of his four plate appearances with one home run, three runs, and three RBI. Another player making a difference was Gabriel Blaxberg, who went 2-for-3 with one home run, four RBI, and two runs.
Canterbury kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least eight hits in five consecutive matchups.
As for Lakeside Christian, they dropped their record down to 1-9 with the defeat, which was their fourth straight at home. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest loss they have suffered against Canterbury since April 30, 2019.
On Lakeside Christian's side, Dominic Ludovici made the most of his time in the batter's box despite the final result and got on base in all three of his plate appearances with two stolen bases, one double, and one RBI.
Coming up, Canterbury will venture away from home to face off against Hollins at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The Royals have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 7.5 runs per game on average), something the Crusaders will no doubt try to take advantage of. As for Lakeside Christian, they will host Central Christian at 3:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
