Basketball Recap: Hudson Blackstock's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Fideles Christian over Lanier Christian Academy

Fideles Christian was the 67-66 winner over Lanier Christian Academy when they last played one another back in February, but their luck changed this time around. The Fideles Christian Rangers fell 73-64 to the Lanier Christian Academy Lightning on Tuesday. While losing is never fun, the Rangers can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Georgia basketball rankings (they are ranked 373rd, while the Lightning are ranked 52nd).

Fideles Christian lost despite a true team effort on offense, the best among them being Hudson Blackstock, who dropped a double-double on 16 points and 12 rebounds. With that strong performance, Blackstock is now averaging an impressive 8.2 boards per game. Eli Shadburn was another key player, going 7 of 13 on his way to 19 points.

It was another big night for Mekhi Barber, who posted 20 points along with eight rebounds and seven steals for Lanier Christian Academy. The contest was Barber's fourth in a row with at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Xavier Barber, who went 9 of 13 on his way to 20 points and three steals.

Fideles Christian dropped their record down to 3-9 with the defeat, which was their third straight on the road. As for Lanier Christian Academy, the victory was the sixth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 6-1.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Fideles Christian will welcome Horizon Christian Academy at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. One thing working in Fideles Christian's favor is that they have posted at least 55 points in their last five games. As for Lanier Christian Academy, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Scholars Guild Academy at 6:30 a.m. on Thursday. Lanier Christian Academy is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 78.6 points per game this season.
