The Clemente Wildcats will head out on the road to face off against the Amundsen Vikings at 5:00 p.m. on Monday. Clemente will aim to continue their four-game streak of scoring more runs each contest than the last.
On Wednesday, Clemente made easy work of Goode STEM Academy and carried off a 21-1 victory. The Wildcats might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won eight matchups by ten runs or more this season.

Clemente got a big performance out of Talina Figueroa, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with three runs and one stolen base. Figueroa is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as she's now snagged at least one in each of the last three games she's played. Jaylani Sanchez was another key player, going 2-for-3 with one home run, two runs, and one stolen base.
Clemente always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .786. That was just more of the same: they've now posted an OBP of .543 or higher in six consecutive games.
Amundsen let Glenbrook North stack four runs on them in the third inning on Friday but luckily Amundsen prevailed anyway. The Vikings had just enough and edged out the Spartans 7-6. The win was a breath of fresh air for the Vikings as it put an end to their four-game losing streak.
The team relied heavily on Ashley Ellevog, who went 2-for-3 with two stolen bases, three runs, and one double. Another player making a difference was Kate Frey, who went 1-for-4 with one triple, one stolen base, and two RBI.
Clemente's record now sits at 11-3. As for Amundsen, their record is now 11-9.
The pitchers for both teams better look sharp on Monday as neither team is afraid to steal. Clemente has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 5.9 stolen bases per game. However, it's not like Amundsen struggles in that department as they've been averaging 4.2 stolen bases. The only question left is which team can snag more.
Clemente suffered a grim 21-0 defeat to Amundsen when the teams last played back in April of 2023. Can the Wildcats avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
