The Velma Jackson Falcons lost against the Leake County Gators back in November, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Friday. Velma Jackson received a tough blow as they fell 65-51 to Leake County.
Several Falcons players turned in solid performances, despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Cameron Tate, who scored 22 points along with five rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Joel Fleming, who scored 14 points along with six rebounds.
Even though they lost, Velma Jackson were working as a unit and finished the game with 13 assists. That's the most assists they've managed all season.
Leake County can attribute much of their success to Lamar Mcdonald, who dropped a double-double on 16 points and ten rebounds. That's the first time this season that Mcdonald pulled down eight or more rebounds. Treylon Ricks was another key contributor, scoring 15 points.
Velma Jackson's loss dropped their record down to 4-7. As for Leake County, their victory ended a five-game drought on the road dating back to last season and puts them at 3-8.
Velma Jackson will be home for the holidays to greet Wingfield at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Wingfield is still on the hunt for that elusive first 'W'. Leake County won't have much time to rest: their next match is against Leake Central at 7:30 p.m. on December 16th.
