Richfield has enjoyed a three-game homestand but will soon have to dust off their road jerseys. They will square off against The Canyon View Falcons at 4:00 p.m. on Saturday. Both teams come into the matchup bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
Richfield stacked a eighth blowout onto their ever-increasing hoard on Friday. They claimed a resounding 35-0 victory over Ogden at home. The score at the end of the third wound up being the final score as Richfield just coasted through the last quarter.
Richfield can attribute much of their success to Reggie Hafen, who rushed for 51 yards and two touchdowns. The team also got some help courtesy of Beck Giblette, who rushed for 28 yards and two touchdowns.
Meanwhile, Canyon View earned a 21-13 win over Grantsville on Friday. The win made it back-to-back wins for Canyon View.
Canyon View's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Jaxon Jensen, who threw for 178 yards and two touchdowns. Another player making a difference was Deegan Davies, who picked up 157 receiving yards and a touchdown.
Richfield's victory was their eighth straight at home (dating back to last season), bumping their overall record up to 11-0. That said, the team wasn't facing the toughest opposition over that stretch, as it included 1-10 Carbon and 2-9 North Sanpete (their opponents had an average overall winning percentage of 41.1% over those games). As for Canyon View, their victory bumped their record up to 9-2.
Keep an eye on the end zone in Saturday's game as both teams haven't had much trouble getting there this season. Richfield commands a daunting offense this season, having averaged 5 touchdowns per game. However, it's not like Canyon View struggles in that department as they've been even better at 5.6 per game. With these two high-octane teams facing off on Saturday, fans should be in for an exciting offensive matchup.
Richfield strolled past Canyon View in their previous meeting back in October by a score of 28-14. The rematch might be a little tougher for Richfield since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
