Baseball Recap: Nicholas County Wins Going Away Against Braxton County

Nicholas County won the last time they faced Braxton County and things went their way on Thursday too. The Nicholas County Grizzlies were the clear victor by a 19-1 margin over the Braxton County Eagles. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Grizzlies.

Lucas Milam and Coleton Hellems did most of the damage at the plate: Milam went a perfect 2-for-2 with three runs, four RBI, and one stolen base, while Hellems got on base in all three of his plate appearances with four RBI, one run, and one double. The dominant performance gave Milam a new career-high in RBI. The team also got some help courtesy of Braden Brown, who went 1-for-2 with four RBI and one run.

Nicholas County always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .600. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Braxton County only posted an OBP of .211.

Nicholas County's record is now 2-0. As for Braxton County, their loss dropped their record down to 0-2.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Nicholas County will venture away from home to square off against Princeton at 5:30 p.m. on Friday. As for Braxton County, they will head out to challenge Gilmer County at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday.
