Two teams were on the hunt for playoff glory, but unfortunately for Cambridge/Salem, they weren't the ones who walked away with it. They were beaten by Warrensburg/Lake George/Bolton 69-15 on Friday. Cambridge/Salem's loss signaled the end of their three-game winning streak.
Stephen Yakubec threw for 62 yards and a touchdown. Baxter Mattosn was his top target, picking up 32 receiving yards.
Gavin McCabe was his usual excellent self, rushing for 208 yards and three touchdowns on only ten carries, while also picking up 62 receiving yards. McCabe has been hot recently, having posted 100 or more rushing yards the last three times he's played. Nick Jeckel was another key contributor, rushing for 100 yards and two touchdowns.
Cambridge/Salem's defeat dropped their record down to 5-5. As for Warrensburg/Lake George/Bolton, their win was their tenth straight at home (dating back to last season), which pushed their record up to 9-0.
Cambridge/Salem does not have any more games scheduled as of now. Warrensburg/Lake George/Bolton will take on Stillwater at 11:00 a.m. on Friday. Stillwater is also coming in off of a big victory, so somebody is in for a big reversal of fortune.
