The Poland Seminary Bulldogs will challenge the LaBrae Vikings at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday. Poland Seminary is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 10.3 runs per game this season.
Poland Seminary is headed in fresh off scoring the most runs they have all season. Everything went their way against Struthers on Wednesday as they made off with a 21-1 win. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Bulldogs.
Madison Medvec and Lillian McDonald made a splash no matter where they played. Throwing, Medvec struck out six batters over three innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit (and not a single walk). Meanwhile, McDonald tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. Medvec has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than one earned run in four consecutive appearances. At the plate, Medvec scored three runs while going 2-for-4, while McDonald went 2-for-3 with three RBI.

In other batting news, Elliana Thompson was a standout: she scored three runs and stole a base while going 3-for-4. She continues to improve, besting her previous point total in each of the last three games she's played. Leanna Boccieri was another key player, getting on base in all four of her plate appearances with four RBI and one run.
Poland Seminary hit smart and finished the game with only one strikeout. The team has now struck out at least five batters in six consecutive games.
Meanwhile, LaBrae won against McDonald on Friday with eight runs and they decided to stick to that run total again on Monday. The Vikings beat Garfield by the very same score they won with in their prior game: 8-6. The victory continues a trend for the Vikings in their matchups with the G-Men: they've now won four in a row.
Riley Rowe made a big impact no matter where she played. She pitched seven innings while giving up just two earned (and four unearned) runs off nine hits. Rowe was also big at the plate, scoring two runs while going 2-for-3.
In other batting news, LaBrae let Morgan Thompson and Makenzie Lichty run wild. Thompson scored a run while going 3-for-4, while Lichty got on base in three of her four plate appearances with three RBI and one double. Those three hits gave Thompson a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Shelby Bragg, who scored two runs while going 2-for-3.
LaBrae's win bumped their record up to 6-1. As for Poland Seminary, they picked up their first road victory, bumping their record up to 3-4.
Thursday's matchup will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Poland Seminary hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .437. However, it's not like LaBrae struggles in that department as they've averaged .383. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Poland Seminary came out on top in a nail-biter against LaBrae in their previous matchup back in May of 2024, sneaking past 2-1. Will the Bulldogs repeat their success, or do the Vikings have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
