After having lost a blowout in their previous game against New Faith Christian Academy, the Heirway Christian Academy Eagles were happy to have found some success on Friday. They came out on top in a nail-biter against Arlington Christian and snuck past 67-65. Having run the score up that high, both teams probably have some extra defensive drills coming up.
Several Arlington Christian players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Chezi Essel, who dropped a double-double on 16 points and 11 rebounds. Essel hasn't dropped below two steals for 13 straight games. Another player making a difference was Rico Williams, who scored 16 points along with two steals.
Heirway Christian Academy has been performing well recently as they've won eight of their last ten matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 13-8 record this season. As for Arlington Christian, their defeat ended a four-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 12-7.
Heirway Christian Academy will take on Furtah Prep at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday. Heirway Christian Academy is coming into the match with nine straight victories at home, so Furtah Prep is out to stop a squad with plenty of momentum. As for Arlington Christian, they will head out on the road to square off against Heirway Christian Academy at 7:30 p.m. on Friday.
