Richland is a perfect 10-0 against Greater Johnstown since April of 2018 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Tuesday. Richland will look to take advantage of their home field for the first time this season as they takes on Greater Johnstown at 4:30 p.m. Both come into the game bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
Richland will roll into the matchup after a wild two-game stretch: they only put up two runs on Tuesday, then bounced right back against Bishop Carroll on Friday. Richland came out on top against Bishop Carroll by a score of 12-7.
Ryan Ozog made a splash no matter where he played. He struck out nine batters over four innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off three hits. Those nine strikeouts gave him a new career-high. He was also solid in the batter's box, scoring a run while getting on base in two of his four plate appearances.
In other batting news, Talon Urbanek was excellent, scoring three runs while getting on base in two of his five plate appearances. Another player making a difference was Caden Robertson, who scored two runs.
Meanwhile, there's no place like home for Greater Johnstown, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Sunday. They skirted past Rockwood 5-3.
Like Richland, Greater Johnstown also got a great game from a two-way player: Eli Felosky. On the mound, he pitched seven innings while giving up just two earned (and one unearned) runs off six hits. Felosky was also big at the plate, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 3-for-3.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Brock Kobal, who scored a run and stole a base while going 2-for-4.
The win got Richland back to even at 1-1. As for Greater Johnstown, their victory (their first of the season) made their record 1-2.
Everything went Richland's way against Greater Johnstown when the teams last played back in April of 2024, as Richland made off with a 15-5 win. Will Richland repeat their success, or does Greater Johnstown has a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
