The Anchor Bay Tars will take on the Roosevelt Bears at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday. Anchor Bay is coming into the contest hot, having won their last ten games.
On Tuesday, Anchor Bay needed a bit of extra time to put away Utica Eisenhower. They had just enough and edged out the Eagles 5-4.
Zach Clemons looked comfortable as he tossed two innings while giving up just one earned run off four hits. He has been consistent for a while: he hasn't given up more than one walk in 11 consecutive appearances.
At the plate, the team relied heavily on Isaiah Domey, who went 3-for-4 with two stolen bases, three RBI, and one run. That's the most hits he has posted since back in April. Austin McMahon was another key player, going 1-for-4 with two stolen bases and one run.
Meanwhile, there's no place like home for Roosevelt, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Tuesday. They put the hurt on Grosse Pointe North with a sharp 12-2 win on Thursday. That ten run margin sets a new team best for the Bears this season.
Jadn' McGowen made a big impact while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, pitching two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. Roosevelt is 2-1 when McGowen allows one or fewer hits, but 13-14 otherwise. McGowen was even better at the plate, getting on base in three of his four plate appearances with four stolen bases, two runs, and two RBI.
In other batting news, Roosevelt got a massive performance out of Jack Halberstadt, who went 3-for-4 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one run. The team also got some help courtesy of RJ Pauley, who went 3-for-4 with three RBI and one run.
Roosevelt was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .391. They are a perfect 3-0 when they post a batting average of .375 or better.
Anchor Bay's victory was their seventh straight at home, which pushed their record up to 18-9. The home wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 6.6 runs over those games. As for Roosevelt, the victory got them back to even at 15-15.
Everything went Anchor Bay's way against Roosevelt when the teams last played back in April of 2024, as Anchor Bay made off with a 12-0 win. Will the Tars repeat their success, or do the Bears have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
