Baseball Recap: Riverside-Durham Picks Up Third Consecutive Victory

Riverside-Durham entered their tilt with Southern School of Energy and Sustainability on Friday with two consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with three. They blew past the Spartans 19-4. The Pirates might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won four contests by ten runs or more this season.

Callum Page made a splash no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, tossing two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. He also tossed a walk, which is notable because Riverside-Durham is undefeated when he allows at most one walk, but 3-5 otherwise. Page was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-2 with three stolen bases, two RBI, and one run. Those three stolen bases gave him a new career-high.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Ryan Dippolito, who went 2-for-4 with two stolen bases, three RBI, and two runs. He is becoming a predictor of Riverside-Durham's success: when he posts at least two runs the team is undefeated (and 4-5 when he doesn't). Kingston Young was another key player, going a perfect 2-for-2 with two runs, two RBI, and one double.

Riverside-Durham always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .625. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Southern School of Energy and Sustainability only posted an OBP of .389.

Riverside-Durham's record is now 7-5. As for Southern School of Energy and Sustainability, they are on a nine-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 5-11.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Riverside-Durham will challenge Heritage at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. The Pirates will need to watch out since the Huskies have now posted at least ten runs in their last four matchups. As for Southern School of Energy and Sustainability, they will face off against Hillside at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The Hornets have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 9.08 runs per game on average), something the Spartans will no doubt try to take advantage of.
