Jefferson has enjoyed the comforts of home their last two games, but now they'll head out on the road. They will take on the Saxony Lutheran Crusaders at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Both teams come into the matchup bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
Last Tuesday, everything came up roses for Jefferson at home against the Eagles as the team secured a 71-31 win. Given Jefferson's advantage in MaxPreps' Missouri basketball rankings (they are ranked 207th, while the Eagles are ranked 536th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Meanwhile, Saxony Lutheran scored the most points they've had all season to find success on Friday. They took their matchup on the road with ease, bagging a 103-25 win over St. Paul Lutheran. Winning may never get old, but Saxony Lutheran sure is getting used to it with their fourth in a row.
Saxony Lutheran's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Luke Eggemeyer, who dropped a double-double on 33 points and 20 rebounds. Eggemeyer is on a roll when it comes to rebounds, as he's now pulled down nine or more in the last 16 games he's played. John Hartmann was another key contributor, scoring 27 points along with eight assists and seven rebounds.
Jefferson's victory was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 12-5. Those victories were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 68.7 points per game. As for Saxony Lutheran, they have been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six games, which provided a nice bump to their 15-7 record this season.
Jefferson came up short against the Crusaders in their previous meeting back in November of 2023, falling 51-40. Can Jefferson avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
