Baseball Recap: Waterloo East's Victory on Thursday Extends Winning Streak to Five

Waterloo East entered their tilt with Des Moines North on Thursday with four consecutive wins, and they'll enter their next game with five. Their pitchers stepped up to hand the Polar Bears a 10-0 shutout. That's two games straight that the Trojans have won by exactly ten runs.

Waterloo East pushed their record up to 6-12 with the win, which was their fifth straight at home. Those home victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 9.0 runs over those games. As for Des Moines North, they are on a 16-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-13.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Waterloo East will face off against Jefferson at 7:00 p.m. on Monday. The Trojans are facing the Hawks at the right time seeing as the Hawks are stuck on a 21-game losing streak. As for Des Moines North, they are taking a road trip to challenge Des Moines East at 3:30 p.m. on Monday. The Scarlets have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 8.07 runs per game on average), something the Polar Bears will no doubt try to take advantage of.
