Softball Recap: Boone Snaps Four-Game Streak of Losses on the Road

Boone hadn't done well against Lyman recently (they were 0-3 in their previous three matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Friday. Boone put the hurt on Lyman with a sharp 9-2 win. The Braves might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won five games by seven runs or more this season.

Samantha Johnson tossed a big game, striking out six batters over 6.1 innings while giving up just two earned runs off six hits.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Kalyn Woods, who went 4-for-5 with four RBI, two runs, and one triple. That's the most RBI she has posted since back in May of 2024. Lily Surber also deserves some recognition as she snagged her first stolen base of the season.

Boone's victory ended a four-game drought on the road and puts them at 6-6. As for Lyman, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost four of their last five contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 4-9 record this season.

Boone will welcome Innovation at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. As for Lyman, they will head out to challenge The First Academy at 6:00 p.m. on Monday.
