The Butler Bulldogs's game last Friday was a tough loss, but they didn't let that memory haunt them on Friday. They strolled past Garinger with points to spare, taking the game 73-59. Having run the score up that high, both teams probably have some extra defensive drills coming up.
Butler got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Brooklyn Saunders out in front who dropped a double-double on 15 points and 14 assists. Saunders hasn't dropped below three steals for four straight games. Joy Park was another key contributor, going 7 for 12 from beyond the arc en route to 25 points and 0 assists.
Garinger lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Raziah Mitchell, who dropped a double-double on 25 points and 12 rebounds. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Mitchell has scored all season. The team also got some help courtesy of Misa Garris, who dropped a double-double on 20 points and ten rebounds.
Butler's victory bumped their record up to 11-6. As for Garinger, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 11-8.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Butler will take on the Panthers at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Hopefully Providence focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 21 on Friday. As for Garinger, they will be playing in front of their home fans against the Eagles at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. East Mecklenburg is no doubt hoping to put an end to a five-game streak of away losses.
