Northwestern (Rock Hill, S.C.) bested Clover (S.C.) 49-6 on the strength of
Mason Rudolph, who tossed five touchdown passes.
After taking the lead on a touchdown pass by Rudolph to
Quadarius Fair in the second quarter, the Trojans were up 28-0 at the half.
Northwestern expanded its lead to 42 points entering the fourth quarter. NHS scored two times in the third, including once on a Rudolph touchdown pass to
Dupree Hart.
Rudolph and Hart were an excellent passing duo during the game. Hart caught three touchdowns and Rudolph threw five. Hart has now caught three touchdowns this season, while Rudolph has thrown 25.
Clover's lone touchdown came on a defensive touchdown in the fourth quarter.
The Rock Hill school had given up an average of 13.0 points prior to the contest. The six points that the Blue Eagles ended with were above their average of 2.0 coming into the game.
Northwestern (7-0) will play a AAAA Region III game against Fort Mill next week, while Clover (0-7) will take on Lancaster also in a AAAA Region III game.
