The South Garner Titans won the last time they faced the Willow Spring Storm, and things went their way on Friday too. South Garner walked away with a 67-54 win over Willow Spring. Given South Garner's advantage in MaxPreps' North Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 99th, while Willow Spring is ranked 327th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Najai Hines was his usual excellent self, dropping a double-double on 19 points and 13 rebounds. Another player making a difference was Ekene Ogboko, who dropped a double-double on 11 points and 13 rebounds.
South Garner's lineup was just a bit different on Friday as Brandon Bastian got a bit more time on the court (24 vs. his season average of 13.75). Bastian made the most of the opportunity, scoring nine points along with five rebounds. A few more games like that and he might be seeing even more time going forward.
Willow Spring lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Xavion Terrell, who scored 21 points along with two steals and two blocks. Terrell is on a roll when it comes to points, as he's now scored 17 or more in the last three games he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Brandon Solomon, who scored 15 points along with eight rebounds.
South Garner is on a roll lately: they've won nine of their last 12 games, which provided a nice bump to their 14-5 record this season. As for Willow Spring, they are on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 6-15.
South Garner will look to defend their home court on Wednesday against Corinth Holders at 7:00 p.m. Corinth Holders is coming into the game with eight straight defeats on the road, meaning South Garner will have to defend against a squad hungry for a win. As for Willow Spring, they will take on Cleveland at 7:45 p.m. on Tuesday. Cleveland is strutting with some offensive muscle, as they've averaged 59.8 points per game this season.
