Wekiva is 5-0 against Lake Howell since December of 2014, and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Tuesday. The Wekiva Mustangs will play host again and welcome the Lake Howell Silver Hawks, where tip off is scheduled for 7:30 p.m. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, the two teams will really light up the scoreboard.
Wekiva scored the most points they've had all season to find success on Friday. They blew past Freedom 68-11 at home. Considering Wekiva has won four matches by more than 21 points this season, Friday's blowout was nothing new.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Wekiva to victory, but perhaps none more so than Tierra Coleman, who scored 16 points along with eight steals and five assists. Those eight steals set a new season-high mark for her. The team also got some help courtesy of Jasmine Pooler, who scored 14 points along with three steals.
Meanwhile, things could have been worse for Lake Howell, but they could have been a whole lot better as they took a 76-58 loss to Lake Mary on Thursday. While losing is never fun, Lake Howell can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Florida basketball rankings (they are ranked 302nd, while Lake Mary is ranked 54th).
Wekiva has been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six games, which provided a nice bump to their 8-4 record this season. As for Lake Howell, their loss dropped their record down to 3-2.
Everything came up roses for Wekiva against Lake Howell in their previous meeting back in February of 2022 as the squad secured a 46-18 victory. Will Wekiva repeat their success, or does Lake Howell have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
