The Bartram Trail Bears are taking a road trip to take on the Fletcher Senators at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Bartram Trail hasn't scored more than two runs for three games straight, a trend the team is eager to reverse.
Bartram Trail might be feeling deja-vu: they lost 3-2 to Bishop Kenny, which was the same score (and result) they got the week prior.
Moises Devine was cooking despite his team's loss, scoring a run and stealing four bases while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances. He also got a hit, marking his first of the season. Another player making a difference was Jonathan Bay, who went 1-for-3 with two stolen bases.
Meanwhile, there's no place like home for Fletcher, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Thursday. They came out on top against Sandalwood by a score of 5-1 on Friday.
Bruce Neel tossed a big game, striking out seven batters over six innings while giving up just one earned run off four hits (and only one walk). He also tossed a walk, which is notable because Fletcher is 3-1 when he allows at most one walk, but 2-3 otherwise.
At the plate, Jakeb McDougall was excellent, scoring two runs and stealing two bases while going 1-for-2.
Bartram Trail now has a losing record of 3-4. As for Fletcher, they now have a winning record of 5-4.
The pitchers for both teams better look sharp on Tuesday as neither team is afraid to steal. Bartram Trail has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 4.3 stolen bases per game. However, it's not like Fletcher struggles in that department as they've been averaging 2.7 stolen bases. The only question left is which team can snag more.
Bartram Trail came out on top in a nail-biter against Fletcher when the teams last played back in February of 2024, sneaking past 3-1. The rematch might be a little tougher for Bartram Trail since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
