After soaring to 57 points the game before, the Soroco Rams were a bit more limited in their match on Friday. They took a serious blow against West Grand, falling 54-21. Soroco lost against the Mustangs in their previous head to head back in January of 2023, too, but the margin this time around was much closer than the 39-34 score last time.
Soroco's loss came despite strong showings from Rachelle Dudley and Kolbie Pierce. Dudley scored six points along with 11 rebounds, while Pierce scored nine points. Dudley is on a roll when it comes to rebounds, as she's now pulled down nine or more in the last seven games she's played.
West Grand's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Sage Wheatley, who scored 17 points along with three steals. Wheatley has been hot recently, having posted two or more steals the last eight times she's played. Luci Bruchez was another key contributor, dropping a double-double on 11 points and 11 rebounds.
Soroco's loss dropped their record down to 3-8. As for West Grand, their win bumped their record up to 9-3.
Soroco will look to defend their home court on Saturday against the Tigers at 2:30 p.m. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are closely ranked in Colorado (Hayden is ranked 277th, while the Rams are ranked 263rd). As for West Grand, they will head out on the road to face off against the Panthers at 2:30 p.m. on Saturday. Rangely is also coming in off of a big victory, so somebody is in for a big reversal of fortune.
