Sunset is 5-0 against Sandy since September of 2018, and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Friday. The Sunset Apollos will be playing at home against the Sandy Pioneers. Sandy took a loss in their last contest and will be looking to turn the tables on Sunset, who comes in off a win.
Sunset put the finishing touches on their fourth blowout victory of the season on Friday. They breezed by Westview on the road to the tune of 28-0. Given Sunset's advantage in MaxPreps' Oregon football rankings (they are ranked 20th, while Westview is ranked 66th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Drew Nees looked great while leading his team to the win, rushing for 33 yards and two touchdowns, while also throwing for 148 yards and a touchdown while completing 100% of his passes. Blake Hurley was another key contributor, picking up 96 receiving yards and a touchdown.
Meanwhile, Sandy ended up a good deal behind Barlow last Thursday and lost 28-14. Sandy has now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
Although Sandy took the loss, they still got scores from Cole Rotzien and Kaidan Porter.
Sunset now has a winning record of 5-4. As for Sandy, they now have a losing record at 4-5.
Sunset didn't have too much breathing room in their match against Sandy in their previous meeting back in August, but they still walked away with a 26-21 victory. Will Sunset repeat their success, or does Sandy have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
