Chase Henry made a splash no matter where he played. On the mound, he tossed 3.1 innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. What's more, he posted four strikeouts, the most he's had since back in April of 2024. He was also big at the plate, going 2-for-5 with one stolen base and two RBI.
In other batting news, Leechburg got a big performance out of Rocco Vigna, who scored two runs and stole a base while going 3-for-5. That's the most hits Vigna has posted since back in April of 2024. Another player making a difference was Garrett Jones, who scored a run and stole a base while going 1-for-3.
Leechburg kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Western Beaver only managed two hits.
Meanwhile, Burrell earned a 5-2 win over Deer Lakes on Wednesday.
Stephen Hasson spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered just two earned runs on two hits and racked up nine Ks. He has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than two walks in three consecutive appearances.
Burrell's victory was their fourth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 6-2. Those home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.3 runs on average over those games. As for Leechburg, their victory bumped their record up to 4-1.
Burrell's pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: Leechburg has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .481. It's a different story for Burrell, though, as they've only averaged .324. Will they be able to contain Leechburg's hitters?
Everything went Leechburg's way against Burrell in their previous meeting back in April of 2023, as Leechburg made off with an 11-5 win. Will the Blue Devils repeat their success, or do the Bucs have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
