The Winter Haven Blue Devils extended their postseason success on Friday against the Haines City Hornets. Everything went their way against the Hornets as they made off with a 72-50 victory. Winter Haven has made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won ten games by 22 points or more this season.
Winter Haven found their leader in underclassman Serenity Hardy, who scored 25 points along with five assists and four steals. Hardy has been hot recently, having posted 19 or more points the last 13 times she's played. Quin?nya Gray de sanders was another key contributor, almost dropping a double-double on 14 points and nine steals.
Haines City's loss came despite strong showings from Mikeyla Hill and Arissa Jenkins. Hill scored 17 points, while Jenkins scored 16 points. Jenkins has been hot recently, having posted 16 or more points the last seven times she's played.
Winter Haven has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won 11 of their last 12 matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 20-5 record this season. As for Haines City, their defeat dropped their record down to 17-6.
Winter Haven's road trip will continue as they head out to face Steinbrenner at 7:00 p.m. on February 14th. Steinbrenner will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Florida Rankings (they are ranked 133rd, while Winter Haven is ranked 11th). As for Haines City, they will square off against Venice at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Venice will roll in looking for their ninth straight victory, something Haines City surely won't give up without a fight.
