Make it 12 blowout wins for the Cross Stingrays this season. They claimed a resounding 53-13 victory over Thomas Heyward Academy on the road. The win was familiar territory for Cross who now have five in a row.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Cross to victory, but perhaps none more so than Ryan Mayers, who scored ten points along with eight steals and seven rebounds. Mayers hasn't dropped below two steals for nine straight games. Another player making a difference was Genesis Wilson, who scored nine points along with six assists and four steals.
Cross is on a roll lately: they've won seven of their last eight matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 18-4 record this season. As for Thomas Heyward Academy, they are on a ten-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 2-12.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Cross won't have much time to rest: their next contest is against the Sundevils at 6:00 p.m. on January 31st. Charleston Collegiate will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps South Carolina Rankings (they are ranked 223rd, while the Stingrays are ranked 98th). As for Thomas Heyward Academy, they will head out on the road to challenge the Patriots at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Hopefully Patrick Henry Academy focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 21 on Thursday.
