The Sunrise Mountain Mustangs can now show off 14 landslide victories after their most recent game on Wednesday. They blew past Willow Canyon, posting a 49-19 win on the road. The win was nothing new for Sunrise Mountain as they're now sitting on four straight.
Sunrise Mountain's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Addison Wiemann, who dropped a double-double on 13 points and 14 rebounds. Jaden Maza was another key contributor, scoring 16 points along with five rebounds.
Perhaps unsurprisingly given the score, Willow Canyon struggled to work together and finished the game with only three assists. That's the fewest assists they've managed all season.
Sunrise Mountain has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won 13 of their last 15 games, which provided a nice bump to their 18-4 record this season. As for Willow Canyon, their defeat ended a nine-game streak of wins at home dating back to last season and dropped them to 13-6.
Sunrise Mountain is on the road again on Thursday and plays the Eagles at 7:00 p.m. on January 25th. Ironwood will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Arizona Rankings (they are ranked 208th, while the Mustangs are ranked 22nd). As for Willow Canyon, they will be playing in front of their home fans against the Coyotes at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Hopefully Centennial focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 29 on Wednesday.
