It was a good run, but the North Putnam Cougars unfortunately witnessed the end of their three-game winning streak on Saturday. They fell just short of Western Boone by a score of 45-43. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest defeat North Putnam has suffered yet this season.
North Putnam lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Rose Haste, who scored 12 points along with eight rebounds. Another player making a difference was Addi Osburn, who scored no points along with nine rebounds and six steals.
Among those leading the charge was Emmerson Gott, who dropped a double-double on 16 points and 11 rebounds. That's the first time this season that she scored 15 or more points. The team also got some help courtesy of Amaya Westerfeld, who scored eight points along with six rebounds.
North Putnam's defeat dropped their record down to 8-11. As for Western Boone, they are on a roll lately: they've won six of their last eight matchups, which provided a massive bump to their 9-10 record this season.
North Putnam and Owen Valley will face off at 7:30 p.m. on January 19th without much rest after finishing up games yesterday. Owen Valley is out to stop a seven-game streak of losses at home. Western Boone will take on Speedway at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
