The Polk County Wildcats's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Thursday after their ninth straight loss. They took a 41-31 hit to the loss column at the hands of Copper Basin. Polk County was given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Cougars apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in December of 2023.
Copper Basin found their leader in underclassman Alexis Hyatt, who scored 16 points along with three steals. Kendra Deal was another key contributor, scoring five points along with five rebounds.
Polk County has not been sharp recently as the team's lost ten of their last 11 games, which put a noticeable dent in their 4-12 record this season. As for Copper Basin, the win (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 11-8.
Polk County will head out on the road to take on the Warriors at 5:30 p.m. on Monday. As for Copper Basin, they won't have much time to rest: their next game is against the Yellowjackets at 6:00 p.m. on February 2nd.
