It was a good run, but the West Liberty-Salem Tigers unfortunately witnessed the end of their five-game winning streak on Monday. They took a 35-24 hit to the loss column at the hands of Miami East. The result shouldn't come as a shock considering that's the fewest points West Liberty-Salem has scored all season.
West Liberty-Salem's loss shouldn't obscure the performances of Ava Astorino, who scored 11 points, and Lilly Weaver who scored six points along with five rebounds and three steals. Weaver is on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed three or more in the last three games she's played.
Logan Phillips was her usual excellent self, almost dropping a double-double on 11 points and nine rebounds for Miami East. Maryn Gross was another key contributor, scoring six points along with three steals.
West Liberty-Salem's loss ended a seven-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 15-3. As for Miami East, their victory was their ninth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 19-0.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. West Liberty-Salem will take on the Pioneers at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday. Jonathan Alder is coming into the game hot, having won their last three games. As for Miami East, they will be playing in front of their home fans against the Pirates at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday. Hopefully Riverside focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 20 last Saturday.
