The North Hollywood Huskies's three-game losing streak came to an end on Monday. They walked away with a 66-56 victory over South El Monte. Having run the score up that high, both teams probably have some extra defensive drills coming up.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead North Hollywood to victory, but perhaps none more so than Jayson Cooper, who scored 17 points along with nine rebounds and five assists. Another player making a difference was Alexander Espinoza, who scored 12 points along with seven rebounds and two steals.
South El Monte's defeat came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Titus Hernandez, who scored 16 points along with two blocks. Hernandez hasn't dropped below 15points for four straight games. Eli Lopez was another key contributor, scoring 13 points.
North Hollywood's win bumped their record up to 7-14. As for South El Monte, their loss dropped their record down to an identical 7-14.
North Hollywood will look to defend their home court on Wednesday against Verdugo Hills at 4:30 p.m. One thing working in Verdugo Hills' favor is that they have posted big point totals in their last six matches. South El Monte will be staying on the road on Friday to face off against Gabrielino at 6:30 p.m. on January 19th.
