Football Game Preview: Mojave Rattlers vs. Green Valley Gators

The Mojave Rattlers will take on the Green Valley Gators at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Mojave has seven straight wins, Green Valley has three straight defeats), but none of that matters once you're on the field.

Mojave is coming in fresh off a high-stakes matchup with another one of Nevada's top teams: Bonanza, who was ranked 18th at the time (Mojave was ranked 14th). Mojave secured a 25-19 W over Bonanza on Monday.

It was another big night for Derriah Wren, who rushed for 150 yards and two touchdowns on only 13 carries. Those 150 rushing yards gave her a new career-high.

Mojave didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off two passes before the game was over. The picks came courtesy of Itali Gibson and Zariyah Palmer. Gibson has been hot recently, having also posted at least one defended passe the last three times she's played.

Meanwhile, Green Valley ended up a good deal behind Pinecrest Academy Cadence back in December of 2024 and lost 27-13.

Mojave will have to contain Lyla Baxter as she made an impact in Green Valley's last game. She picked up 136 receiving yards and one touchdown. Baxter showed off some serious burst, cutting upfield on a catch for 60 yards. Green Valley also got a significant boost from Aundrea Velez, who ran away from the competition to the tune of 84 yards.

Mojave pushed their record up to 8-2 with the victory, which was their fourth straight on the road. They've dominated over that stretch too, winning by an average of 30.5 points. As for Green Valley, their loss dropped their record down to 2-9.
