Baseball Recap: Blackford Turns Things Around After Road Loss

There's no place like home for Blackford, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Saturday. They put the hurt on the Southwood Knights with a sharp 8-0 win on Tuesday. The Bruins haven't had any issues with the Knights recently, as the game was their fourth consecutive victory against them.

Trey McIntire made a big impact no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run and allowing only one hit while striking out eight over five innings pitched. He also tossed no earned runs, which is notable because Blackford is undefeated when he allows at most one earned run, but 0-3 otherwise. McIntire was also solid in the batter's box, going a perfect 2-for-2 with one run, one double, and one RBI.

In other batting news, Max Bonewit and Trenton Norton did most of the damage at the plate: Bonewit went 2-for-3 with three RBI, while Norton went 2-for-5 with two runs, one stolen base, and one double. Corbin Parrott also deserves some recognition as he got his first hit of the season.

Blackford kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 12 hits. That's the most hits they've posted since back in May of 2024.

The win got Blackford back to even at 3-3. As for Southwood, they are on a four-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-3.

Blackford has already played their next matchup, an 8-4 defeat against Muncie Central on the 17th. As for Southwood, they also didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next game, a 13-1 loss against Mississinewa on the 18th.
