Football Recap: Forge Christian Piles Up the Points Against Prospect Ridge Academy

Forge Christian won the last time they faced Prospect Ridge Academy and things went their way on Thursday too. The Fury claimed a resounding 49-21 victory over the Miners. The Fury might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won four matchups by 28 points or more this season.

Forge Christian was led to victory by Quentin Torres and Treysen Eye. Torres gained 151 total yards and three touchdowns, while Eye picked up 175 receiving yards and two touchdowns. Those 175 receiving yards gave Eye a new career-high.

Wins are hard to come by when you can't run the rock, something Forge Christian proved: they limited Prospect Ridge Academy to a paltry 0.5 yards per carry. While three picked up at least five total tackles, Torres stood above the rest. He rushed for 97 yards and a pair of TDs on only seven carries, and also picked up 54 receiving yards. Forge Christian didn't have any issues in that department, having averaged 5.5.

Special teams was a major factor in the game for Forge Christian, racking up 13 points in total. The biggest highlight from special teams (and perhaps the team as a whole) came courtesy of Torres, who ran a punt back for a touchdown.

Several Miners players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Emerson Mallon, who threw for 285 yards and three touchdowns. Prospect Ridge Academy's leading receiver Josh Ranjit was Mallon's top target yet again, picking up 70 receiving yards and a pair of scores.

The win made it two in a row for Forge Christian and bumps their season record up to 5-1. Those victories came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 56.0 points over those games. As for Prospect Ridge Academy, the defeat snapped their winning streak at three games and leaves them with a 3-2 record.
