The Pittsfield Generals will head out on the road to face off against the East Longmeadow Spartans at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday.
Pittsfield pushed their score all the way to 64 on Monday, but even that wasn't enough to win. They took a 72-64 hit to the loss column at the hands of Chicopee Comp.
Despite their defeat, Pittsfield saw several players rise to the challenge and make noteworthy plays. Makai Shepardson, who scored 18 points, was perhaps the best of all. Malachi Perry was another key contributor, scoring 17 points.
Meanwhile, East Longmeadow gave their fans exactly what they wanted out of a home opener on Monday. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 43-41 win over Taconic.
Pittsfield's defeat ended a six-game streak of away wins dating back to last season and brought them to 1-1. As for East Longmeadow, their win bumped their record up to 1-0.
Pittsfield beat East Longmeadow 70-59 in their previous matchup back in February. The rematch might be a little tougher for Pittsfield since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
