Valle Vista recap November 5, 2013
Pomona extended the longest winning streak in Valle Vista this week by beating Nogales, 51-6. The victory was the ninth in a row for the team.
Northview scaled the state rankings by moving to 467 from 510 this week, the biggest jump in the league. The Vikings climbed the ranks as a result of besting Baldwin Park 42-21.
Pomona's dynamic duo of Darreon Lockett and Kele Scott proved to be unstoppable against the Nobles, as they were the top passer and receiver in the league this week. Lockett threw for 190 yards and 4 touchdowns and Scott had 122 yards receiving. Shawn Wilson helped Pomona's passing attack out by catching 1 ball for 75 yards.
Joesph Mayorga was a beast in the backfield as San Dimas bested Covina.
Michael Moran was a passing and rushing force as the Braves lost to Northview. He completed 27 passes for 317 yards and 2 touchdowns and also ran for 4 yards. Moran's favorite target this week was Christian Barraza, who caught 4 passes for 76 yards.
Baldwin Park's Moran and Raymen Barraza led the league in both passing and receiving yards. 5-9 quarterback Moran has thrown for 2,642 yards this season, while Barraza has 56 catches for 907 yards. The Colts' Pearnell Smalley IV leads the league in rushing yards with 954.
Barraza of the Chris Williams' team's is a few catches away from breaking 1,000 yards for the season. He needs only 93 receiving yards in this week's game against Wilson to get there. So far this year, he has acheived 56 catches for 907 yards.
Smalley IV has rushed for 954 yards on 139 carries so far this year.
As it stands, the Saints are in fourth, while Aaron Jamieson's team is in first.
The league will see a high scoring game when San Dimas and the Red Devils face off this week. The top two offenses in the league, Bill Zernickow's team comes in having scored 332 this season, while Pomona has scored 445. The Saints scored 49 points last week as they bested Covina.
The Red Devils took down Nogales 51-6 last week, the largest margin of any game. Lockett ran for 126 yards in the win.
