Laurel led 5A Region 3 in scoring this week after putting up 28 points on Laurel.
Keon Howard broke off the longest rushing play in the league this week with a 60-yard run against Picayune. Howard finished the game with 93 yards on the ground as the Golden Tornadoes lost to the Maroon Tide.
Laurel's offense was tough to stop this week, as it produced the league's top passer, rusher and receiver. Howard threw for 122 and 2 touchdowns and Omar Bayless had 77 yards receiving. On the ground Howard chipped in 93 yards. Octavious Cooley helped Laurel's passing attack out by catching 4 balls for 67 yards.
Bayless was the best wideout in the league this week as Todd Breland's team lost to Picayune. Bayless racked up 3 receptions for 77 yards. Cooley helped Laurel's passing attack out by catching 4 balls for 67 yards.
Laurel's offense has been unstoppable this season and the Golden Tornadoes feature the season leaders in passing, rushing and receiving yards. Howard has thrown for 2,625 yards and 25 touchdowns this season, while Cooley has 51 catches for 1,007 yards.
The Golden Tornadoes led 5A Region 3 in points allowed with 35.
