Meridian (Miss.) kept up a steady attack all game long to defeat
Provine (Jackson, Miss.), 31-6, on Saturday.
After taking the lead on a touchdown pass by
Jamarius Smith in the first quarter, the Wildcats were up 21-0 at the half.
Meridian expanded its lead to 31 points entering the fourth quarter. MHS scored two times in the third, including once on a touchdown run.
Provine's lone touchdown came on a run in the fourth quarter.
The Wildcats came in allowing an average of 18.2 points per game this season. A defensively strong Meridian kept the Rams well below the 16.6 points it had been averaging per game.
The win brought Meridian's winning streak to three games.
Provine (1-5) goes up against Terry in a 6A Region 3 game matchup next week, while Meridian (5-1) locks horns with Oak Grove also in a 6A Region 3 game.
