After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Ruskin Christian, the Meadowbrook Academy Mustangs were happy to have found some success on Monday. They put the hurt on St. John Lutheran with a sharp 71-46 win. With that victory, Meadowbrook Academy brought their scoring average up to 52.7 points per game.
Meadowbrook Academy can attribute much of their success to Zach Ross, who dropped a double-double on 16 points and 18 steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Tico Smith, who scored 21 points.
St. John Lutheran's lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Brody Gravante, who scored 8 points along with 4 steals. Another player making a difference was Bryce Disimile, who scored 12 points along with 8 rebounds.
Meadowbrook Academy's victory bumped their record up to 1-2. As for St. John Lutheran, their defeat dropped their record down to 0-1.
Coincidentally, both teams will both be playing First Academy the next time they take the court. St. John Lutheran will host First Academy at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday, while Meadowbrook Academy will host them at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday.
