The Calexico Mission RoadRunners's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Thursday after their fifth straight loss. They took a 65-59 hit to the loss column at the hands of Borrego Springs. Calexico Mission has not had much luck with Borrego Springs recently, as the team's come up short the last four times they've met.
When it comes to explaining why Calexico Mission lost, one person who can't be blamed is Leonardo Longino. Despite the final result, he scored 37 points. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Longino has scored all season. Sergio Jacobo was another key contributor, scoring eight points.
Brody White was his usual excellent self, dropping a double-double on 28 points and 22 rebounds for Borrego Springs. That makes it four consecutive games in which White has scored at least a third of Borrego Springs' points. The team also got some help courtesy of Christopher Alcaraz, who scored 24 points along with six rebounds and five steals.
Calexico Mission's defeat dropped their record down to 1-7. As for Borrego Springs, they now have a winning record of 9-8.
Calexico Mission will look to defend their home court on Tuesday against West Shores at 5:00 p.m. West Shores is no doubt hoping to put an end to a nine-game streak of away losses. As for Borrego Springs, they will head out on the road to take on Warner at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Hopefully Warner focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up nine on Friday.
