The Legacy Charter Eagles waltzed into their matchup on Thursday with two straight wins but they left with three. They came out on top against East Ridge by a score of 56-49. Given Legacy Charter's advantage in MaxPreps' Florida basketball rankings (they are ranked 284th, while East Ridge is ranked 639th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Legacy Charter's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Jayden Richmond, who scored 18 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Emanuel Longchamp, who scored 15 points along with five rebounds.
When it comes to explaining why East Ridge lost, one person who can't be blamed is Jordan Corman. Despite the final result, he scored 12 points along with seven rebounds and five assists. Corman is on a roll when it comes to steals, as he's now grabbed two or more in the last four games he's played. Braden Simmons was another key contributor, scoring 14 points along with five rebounds.
Even though they lost, East Ridge were working as a unit and finished the game with ten assists. This was only their tenth loss (out of ten games) when they've passed the ball that well.
Legacy Charter's victory was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 9-7. Those victories were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 56.7 points per game. As for East Ridge, they still haven't won a game yet this season and fell to 0-17.
