Doniphan-Trumbull won the last time they faced Sandy Creek, and things went their way on Friday, too. Doniphan-Trumbull steamrollered Sandy Creek 45-7. Followers of Doniphan-Trumbull probably expected little less of the team in a season in which they have collected four blowout victories.
Doniphan-Trumbull got off to a slow start in their last-week game, but they had no such trouble against Sandy Creek and cruised to a 31-point first half. Sandy Creek wasn't quite able to keep up, scoring 7 to make it 31-7 heading into the break. Doniphan-Trumbull put the match away in the third quarter with 14 points from the offense and zero points allowed from the defense.
No one put up better numbers for Doniphan-Trumbull than junior Keithan Stafford, who brought his A game into the match. He rushed for 140 yards and 2 touchdowns. Junior Griffin Hendricks was in the mix, too, providing Doniphan-Trumbull with 3 touchdowns. The win bumped their record up to 5-1. Sandy Creek are still searching for that first win as they fell to 0-6.
Next week Doniphan-Trumbull take on Superior at 7:00 PM. As for Sandy Creek, they will face off against Sutton.
